This week First Lady Michelle Obama announced proposed guidelines for local school wellness policies and roll out of breakfast and lunch programs for schools that serve low-income communities.
And I must say, the First Lady has really been on a roll lately with her fashion. I mean, she usually looks good, but she's been on a different level. This silver and cream sleeveless dress is just striking, and her green cap-sleeve with ruffles is just delightful.
The bipartisan Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 mandated that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) set guidelines for what needed to be included in local school wellness policies in areas such as setting goals for nutrition education and physical activity, informing parents about content of the policy and implementation, and periodically assessing progress and sharing updates as appropriate.
The proposed guidelines would ensure that foods and beverages marketed to children in schools are consistent with the recently released Smart Snacks in School standards and ensuring that unhealthy food is not marketed to children is one of the First Lady's top priorities. To help schools with the implementation of the school wellness policies, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has launched a new "School Nutrition Environment and Wellness Resources" website, which includes sample wellness policy language for school districts and a dedicated page of resources for food marketing practices on the school campus.
The First Family attends the Christmas in Washington fundraiser for the Children's National Medical Center each year. This past year the First Lady wore a stunning silver J. Mendel jacket. And of course, Sasha and Malia look lovely.

People Magazine does an annual piece on the Obamas. Great work by Stewart Shining on the photos. Michelle looks great in a sleeveless blue, black and silver dress with what I believe are metallic silver pumps.

First Lady Michelle Obama certainly looked Oscar worthy in a silver, pewter, and gray metallic beaded dress and matching drop earrings as she announced the winner of the Oscar for Best Picture: Argo, the story of the rescue of six Americans from the Canadian embassy in Iran during the hostage crisis in 1980.

Michelle looked absolutely stunning at the taping of the Colbert Report this spring. She wore a knee-length pewter dress with an asymmetrical boatneck collar and an adorable broach. She paired it with the shiniest dark silver shoes I've ever seen. Classy and beautiful.

Yesterday President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize, and his lovely bride was on hand to dance the night away with him. Mrs. Obama wore a silver floor length evening gown with what must have been quite the heels underneath, as she looks taller than Barack in the photo!
While it is not entirely certain who designed the First Lady’s ensemble (there’s a matching jacket in some photos I’ll post later), Mrs. O seems to have a strong belief that it is the work of Azzedine Alaia.
Last night First Lady Michelle Obama hosted Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh and his wife, Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, at the Obamas first state dinner. It was a gala event, and the First Lady dressed to impress. Her gown was designed by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan. It has an ivory base and stunning silver overlay. She accessorized with drop earrings as well as silver and gold bangles. More on her wardrobe is available on Mrs. O.
Tonight is First Lady Michelle Obama’s first state dinner. She is hosting the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Mrs. Gursharan Kaur. The occasion has been exquisitely planned out, down to the last detail. While making preparations Mrs. Obama looked amazing in her J. Crew Crystal Constellation cardigan and a pencil skirt by Indian-American designer Rachel Roy. She accented these with a silver belt, large bracelet, and silver pumps.
