‘Tis the season for our mailbags to be filled with holiday cards for Mrs. Obama and the First Family. We do our best to make sure each and every writer receives a response from the First Lady.

When letters arrive at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue they’re sorted and bundled by our wonderful team of elves…I mean volunteers. Two volunteers, Martha and Betty, have served in their roles for 25 years!

Before I headed to the White House kitchen to interview Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford for Tastemade, I got to check out the incredible #WHHolidays decorations! This beautiful walkway — with gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows — had a beautiful array of large snowflakes representing all 50 states. There were also smaller paper snowflakes made by local school children with what they want to be when they grow up written on them!! It was so endearing...especially the one that said "I want to be the President of the United States."

Now this is my favorite! The White House Gingerbread House is an annual tradition and one of best pieces of the #WHHolidays. Believe it or not, planning begins each year in May. This year we decided to recreate the East and West Wings as well. A lot of love goes into this 500 pound gingerbread house!

Hi all! I’m Susie Morrison, Head Pastry Chef here at the White House. I like to think I have the best job - definitely the most fun. From Bo and Sunny cookies to the gingerbread house, I get to be creative with sweets! Here are two pieces my team and I did for a recent dinner.

Every year as part of the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden's #JoiningForces initiative, we host a holiday workshop with military children. This year the little ones got to decorate their very own holiday sugar cookie and package up some caramel popcorn to bring him to their families. The look on their faces never gets old!

Every year the First Lady spreads holiday cheer by visiting patients at Children's National Medical Center. She reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to children and answers the most popular question: "What are you getting the President for Christmas?" (Hint: It’s very #LetsMove friendly!)
