First Lady Michelle wore a cream cap-sleeved dress to address the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) church's General Conference. The AME Church is the oldest African American denomination. It was begun near the end of the 18th Century as a protest against segregation in churches and has retained its identity as a bulwark against racism.
